2024 FAMILY CLASSIC – SUNDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER

Subject: Hartfield Family Classic – Sunday, 1st September 2024 – PM Shotgun Start

We are excited to announce the upcoming Hartfield Family Classic on Sunday, 1st September 2024.

This event has been a great tradition for the past 3 years, providing an opportunity for family members to come together and enjoy a day at Hartfield.

Entry is open to family members who will be playing together in a 4 BBB Stableford event. Multiple entries are permitted, meaning family members can form different playing groups.

For example, X can play with Y and Z, and Y and Z can play together simultaneously.

The definition of “family member” includes father, mother, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, grandson, granddaughter, husband, wife, partner, uncle, aunt, first cousin, son/daughter-in-law.

Professionals are eligible to enter and will play off their GA handicap. Both players in a team must have an official GA handicap to be eligible to win the Hartfield Family Classic.

For players without an official handicap, a separate competition will be held. These players will play off 27 for men and 36 for women.

At least one player per team must be a Hartfield member. We encourage members with eligible family members from other clubs to participate.

The cost to enter is $30.00 per player, payable at the Proshop on the day. This fee also includes an evening meal.

Entry is via the booking sheet which has been set up to allow visitors without golf link numbers to enter.

We hope to see many families out on the day, enjoying this wonderful event.

PACE OF PLAY – NOTICE

PACE OF PLAY – NOTICE

Dear Members,
We have noticed that slow play has become a significant problem at Hartfield in recent times, especially with the upcoming winter season and shorter days. The issue is that 10% of our members do not maintain their position in the field during competitions, resulting in rounds that take between 4:45 and 5 hours. This is a concern to the Match Committee.

We have come up with some possible solutions to address this problem:

  1. Shotgun Starts: This option guarantees that you will complete your round, but it also means that the speed of play is determined by the slowest group in the field. Additionally, the start and finish times will both be earlier and later than many of our members prefer.
  2. Reduce Field Sizes: This is the easiest way to ensure that our fields finish on time, but it means that we would have to cut the field sizes by 16-24 players. This is not an option that we would like to take since it means that some members would miss out on their game of golf.
  3. Correct the Playing Speed: We need to correct the playing speed of the 10% of members who are causing the problem. We know that this is a familiar topic, but we have analyzed data collected from rounds played and have established an acceptable total round time and a maximum finishing gap time between each group.

From this analysis, we discovered that 10% of our groups fail to meet two parameters: a round time of 4:15 minutes or less and/or having a gap of less than 14 minutes between them and the group in front. Please note that round completion times are recorded when you submit your score on the MiScore App.

Starting from Saturday, May 11th, 2024, any group that fails to meet both of these criteria will receive a letter from the Club Captain informing them of this. Multiple breaches by the same player will result in tee-off time restrictions and score cancellations.

It’s essential to note that 90% of our membership meets these criteria, so they have nothing to worry about. For those groups that receive a letter, please take the advice given in the right way. We will not entertain members who blame other members in the group for slow play. You must work together as a collective to maintain your position in the field.

Best regards,

Match Committee
