History

Hartfield originated in 1970 when the members of Kalamunda and Hillrose Golf Clubs joined to form a new club. Kalamunda owned its sand green course just off Mundaring Weir Road now known as Hedley Jorgensen Reserve. Due to lack of water the club could not progress to grass greens.

A lease of 90 hectares of the Hartfield “A” class reserve was granted by the Shire of Kalamunda and the Hartfield course opened for play in 1972 with the clubhouse following in 1975.

Established from dense virgin bush and built with the voluntary labour of Foundation Members, the course winds through gently undulating terrain that is a natural haven for both golfers and the resident wildlife.

Today there are approximately 700 members of Hartfield Golf Club. Membership is categorized by playing rights, i.e. seven days, six days, five days not by gender. Women are full members with equal rights.

Hartfield Golf Club has been one of WA’s most progressive golf clubs over the past two decades.

The club has embarked on major upgrading of the course, irrigation and water supply and clubhouse. In excess of one million dollars has been spent to date enhancing the golfing experience.

In 1988 Hartfield commissioned a gold course design to consultants to produce a Course Development Plan to upgrade the architecture of the course. With the correct irrigation infrastructure now in place the course has continued to improve, underlined by it having been chosen to host several Golf WA events in recent years.
